Who knew. Did you know?
I always thought that a person had pets only because you love animals, I never knew that they are enormously beneficial to your health and well being too. Did you know that?
Of course, there have been quite a lot of articles about the psychological benefits of pets in the last years, but have you read them? I’ve skimmed through a few, and was a bit dismissive. Lately I’ve been thinking about it a bit more.
I adopted a border collie x just over a year ago – yes, the one on the picture in my last post! – and she has been such a delight. Playful, happy, lively, loving, lively, clever, sweet and lively. Also, a pain in the backside, because she is so into chewing things (like most puppies, I suppose) – it started off with shoes, then I noticed strange holes in some of my area rugs and bath mats, then plants, her toys, and now, a year later, she still chews on things. And she is lively. Did I mention that? Very lively…
So I’ve been thinking about the actual benefits of having a dog. She is so loyal and loving, she loves taking me for walks, and she does not have moods. I’ve read a few articles lately, and it is not hard to believe that a pet can change your life for the better.
If you are still sceptical, have a look at this, and this, it will surely convince you that pets are waaaaaay more than ‘just’ animals. They are aids like guide dogs for the blind, they are companions to children and the elderly, they are a comfort to the sick and even hugely beneficial to Alzheimer patients, and the list goes on. I know they can sometimes be a pain too, but their positives far outweigh their negatives. And all they want in return is food and love.

Be kind to your fur babies, look after them well, because they look after you the best way they can.
Until next time, enjoy your pets! 🙂
Lovely family pics 🙂 Yes indeed our pets are a big part of the family in my experience, and ask so little in return really. My remaining cat is nearly 19 years old now and we have been through a great deal together. He has been such a treasure– the male in my life that’s been around the longest haha! I will be beyond sad to see him go, although we are not quite there yet. Right now he is enjoying the morning sun next to an east facing window. Kitty bliss…
Oh and border collies are notoriously active! Worker dogs. So good luck ;). She will keep you fit and active no doubt
Thank you. 🙂 They are precious indeed. My cat is around 12 years old, and a real ‘family’ cat – he was my eldest son’s cat for the most part, but then through circumstances passed on to my youngest, then to their father, and hopefully he will stay with me and spend the last part of his life in rural happiness!
And Daisy is indeed keeping me on my toes!!! 😀
Pets do all things! Help our mental capabilities, lower blood pressure and over a feeling of love that can’t be replaced.
Beautiful pictures!
So true. Thank you! 🙂

They are more important than a lot of people give them credit for.
