The Cat and other stories.

Posted on
Throw back to New Year’s day, started the year off on the right foot.

Sunday afternoon.

Daisy the border collie x and I just came back from a nice, long walk. It is a cool, rainy day, but I nevertheless managed to build up a bit of a ‘glow’.

The Cat was waiting for me, and demanded food, but I was not so easily swayed. He is getting better and better everyday (thanks for asking), i.e. he is getting around more easily. (Please see a few of my previous posts on why you are getting an update on The Cat’s health.) What he still doesn’t do well enough to my liking, is to eat. He is a bag of bones. I give him wet food twice a day, and he has a permanent bowl of dry food at his disposal. He used to gobble up his wet food, now he licks it. Literally. He gives it a few licks and walks off. He does eat some dry food, but also not nearly enough to start picking up weight. So when I walked in the door and he was meowing at me, I shoved his left-over breakfast under his nose again (which was basically all the food I gave him this morning). Once again, he gave it a few licks, and he was done.

He is really a cantankerous old grump at the moment, and I doubt that will change. Except when he wants to have a little nap on my lap, then he can suddenly start making eyes at me! Typical male…

The Cat in better days.

I heard only a few hours ago, that my SO’s nephew had an accident with a motorbike, and he is in hospital. His guardian angel must have just looked away for a second, but could still react in time to save his butt. He had a serious crash, which could have ended so much worse – thankfully it didn’t. He will be okay, after a lot of stitches to his head (!), an operation to his hand(s) and a very bruised and battered body.

Please be careful out there if you are a bike rider, these accidents happen so quickly! Always wear your protective gear, and be super cautious if you are on a road you don’t know. If you are not a biker, please be on the look out for bikers, and give them some leeway, they are very vulnerable out there. Don’t be one of the spiteful drivers to cut them off or drive in such a way that they cannot pass you – that is just mean spirited.

I spent a very quiet weekend mostly at home, enjoying the cool and rainy weather, and although I want this week to pass quickly, I’m not sure I’m quite ready for Monday yet…

Enjoy your Sunday evening or what ever is left of your day, and best of luck for the week ahead! 🙂

About zelmare

Hallo to you from the southern most part of the African continent - South Africa!! To put my life in a nutshell : I raised 3 absolutely fabulous kids (I'm sure you will hear a lot about them, since I am a very proud mama), I became a doting grandmother two years ago and recently bought a house in the Western Cape, and in doing so, realized a dream I've had for many, many years. I love traveling, which I don't do often enough. I love living a simple life - cooking, gardening, knitting and of course, blogging. There is still a lot I want to do and see in my lifetime, but time will tell how much of that I can actually accomplish. I am looking forward to meeting a lot of lovely new friends and interesting people here on WordPress! :)
