Guesthouse reno.

Guesthouse cottage from my back patio.

Hi! I’m still around, would you believe!! 😁

You can be forgiven for thinking or hoping ( 😉 ) that I’ve thrown in the towel on blogging, but sorry, no.

I’ve been busier than I’ve been in a very long time, and just did not have the time to sit and chat to you and download pictures. I also realized how much time blogging takes up, because it is not only about the writing, it is also reading and commenting on the blogs you follow. I did get behind – way behind! And it is difficult to catch up.

The guesthouse is still not a 100% done, but like I mentioned in the previous blog, the one unit is completely comfortable and livable – just a few things I still feel I want to do to add to the overall charm and comfort. The second unit is still some way from being finished. Oi…

Here are some pictures to give you an idea of the changes and the progress. I tried to give you some reference points so you can figure out what I’ve done.

Before : Counter between kitchen and dining area.
The counter built up, dining area now a kitchen/diner.
Nook behind the door – previously the linen and storage cupboard’s place.
Now the washing up nook.
Previously: the kitchen – lots of wasted space.
Now: Bedroom and bathroom.

So, those are the big changes!

The previous bedroom is now the whole second unit, and is the one that is still a work in progress, and I’ll update you later on that. To end up with, a picture or two of the living area.

Previously: The view from the kitchen. Lots and lots of wasted space.
Now: the view from the bedroom entrance towards the rest of the unit.

That’s it folks!

This is what has been keeping me busy lately, and it is not done yet. This coming week, I want to push for the second unit. By the end of the week, I want it done and listed for occupation. Let’s hold thumbs for that…🤞🏻

I apologize for not reading and commenting as regularly as I usually do, hopefully that will change again soon. In the meantime, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! 🙂

A Positive Sunday.

Birthday flowers still giving joy!

Sunday.

What a contrast this day is to last weekend! However, today I refuse to dwell on my feelings – since I am alone, it will only drag me down, which is something I don’t need right now.

So…I am going to concentrate on positives, and hope, and the light at the end of the tunnel, etc.

It is a cool, cloudy day today, which is my favourite kind of day. I’ve already taken Daisy (the border collie x that rules the roost around here) for a long walk, so : exercise – check. (I have it on good authority that walking is good for the soul – give it a try!)

I am busy making lunch which will consist of 2 lamb chops and sweet potato fries with olive oil and rosemary – baked in the oven. Cannot wait! Oh yes, with a glass of glorious red wine from our area, of course.

The rest of the day will probably be spent in front of the TV with my knitting – current project : beanies for my oldest son, since the one he is currently wearing has most definitely seen better days! Mom to the rescue!!!

I am also grateful that I had guests in my little guest house this weekend, which I consider a huge blessing after 5 months of absolutely no business. 🙂

And on top of all that, I am still enjoying the beautiful flowers I received on my birthday from my children, as well as the yummy Lindt chocolate that I started off on last night.

All my favourites in one package…YUM!

I am still healthy through all of this hullabaloo which is also known as 2020, so all in all, blog friends, a huge amount to be thankful for!!!

I am making it my mission to smile a lot more (I normally feel like an idiot when I smile for nothing), to look for the positives every single time I feel glum, and to express my gratitude for my blessings more often.

Until next time, look out for the positives, they are all around you!! 😀

Life is a journey.

Sun fingers touching the earth.

#lifeisajourney

This is a permanent hashtag on my instagram profile. It says it all to me. You are on your own personal journey, and you have to keep moving to reach your destination. The destination can be different things to different people, of course.

Life’s journey is not all fun and games, of course, like a planned vacation to your favourite destination. It can be a bit of a nightmare, it often takes a few wild turns, and there are more than one detour along the way.

Still, you can’t decide to get off the bus whenever you want to. You have to keep going, and hope that there is something exciting around the bend, or over the hill. You can sometimes decide whether to turn left or right, or carry on straight. U-turns are strictly forbidden.

What makes one carry on? What makes one pick up the pieces and keep going?

Hope.

Hope that tomorrow will be a bit brighter and lighter. Hope that you will feel stronger, happier, more content. Hope that you will find that much needed job, or that your tests for cancer/MS/Alzheimer’s will be negative. Hope that lightning might strike your violently abusive husband. Hope that next month’s pregnancy test will be positive.

Life’s journey is fueled by hope. No matter how hard life hits us, we always have hope that things will be better, and we will hurt less.

*If you seriously feel that you have hit rock bottom on your life’s journey, though, please seek help, there are people that can help you.
